37 weeks

So, today marks 37 weeks according to the Docs estimate. After staying up most of last with contraction like things Amber didn't go into work today. She's done. She was supposed to work all week but that isn't gonna happen. Everyone is happier for it.

Today we had a leisurely breakfast at the Beehive Cafe, I finished up probably the last of the Tonehammer work that I'll do before Penny is here, and we went shopping at Babies R Us to get the last of the stuff we wanted to have.

Today was a nice day.

She'll be here soon!

Getting ready.

I washed the last of the baby clothes that we've purchased up to this point. The lint in the dryer trap was entirely pink.

6 weeks left?

We have about six weeks left until the due date, and Amber and I are both very excited.

A few weeks ago we decided on the name Penelope, and much more recently we decided on the middle name Louise. Penelope Louise Smith. Penny Lou.

Not too much else to speak of yet. We are having the first baby shower on Saturday. That should be a lot of fun.

We have a nursery mostly set up. I think once we get that finished I will post some pics.

It's a girl.

It is about 20 weeks into the pregnancy which is half way and today we found out that we are having a girl. We are both very excited because we can finally talk about the baby as a 'she' instead of an 'it'. That makes the idea of the impending parenthood slightly more real in a weird way. The baby is no longer just a thing in there, it is now our proto-daughter. The whole situation is a very weird surreal thing. Also, during the sonogram, we watched her heart beat for a bit to make sure everything is in normal working order. That was super cool. It's hard to describe what we are feeling emotionally other than happiness and... wow.

We don't have a girl name picked out yet. Some of the ones we are considering are, Camilla, Penelope, and, Darwyn. It should be noted that a few weeks ago Amber really liked Daisy Mae. I am putting that here so we can laugh at it later. ;)

For a mini-celebration we went and had Japanese food at Satomi. It was fantastic.
